Fall 2022
Classes Taken: PHYS 122 (Electromagnetism), ACCTG 219 (Essentials of Accounting), MATH 207 (Introduction to Differential Equations), CSE 492 (CS pedagogy.), ME 499 (Leadership at HPS)
In the Fall, I was excited to start taking more advanced math courses. The biggest shift for me came from CSE 492, where I reflected on accessibility in education, deepening my interest in teaching and mentorship. I also took on a leadership role as Safety Lead in the Human-Powered Submarine Club, where I led a team to design a pneumatic safety system for the submarine competition.
Winter 2023
Classes Taken: MATH 224 (Advanced Multivariable Calculus), ME 499 (Leadership at HPS), EE 215 (Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering), MATH 208 (Matrix Algebra with Applications), EE 241 (Programming for Signal and Information Processing Applications)
This quarter was particularly challenging, as I juggled two demanding math classes alongside technical ECE courses. Despite the heavy workload, I continued developing my leadership skills through HPS, where I learned how to lead by ensuring every team member feels valued and impactful. This approach helped me foster a more collaborative and inclusive environment. I also took on a new role as an Intro CS TA, where I had the opportunity to support students and further develop my teaching and mentoring skills while balancing a tough academic schedule.
Spring 2023
Classes Taken: EE 242 (Signals, Systems, and Data I), EE 201 (Computer Hardware Skills), EE 280 (Exploring Devices – Semiconductors), EE 398 (Introduction to Professional Issues)
This quarter felt like a nice break from the intensity of previous classes, as I took courses that were challenging but also more aligned with my interests. I also continued refining my leadership skills in HPS, where I made sure my team had enough leeway to take on greater responsibilities, such as transitioning into the next Safety Lead role. As I look ahead, I’m ready to step back from leadership to focus more on personal growth and technical development, while allowing others to take the lead.
