Quantitative Microglia Branching Analysis

Quantitative Microglia Branching Analysis

Started: Fall 2022; Completed: Spring 2023

During my sophomore year, I decided to start my own research project that I will focus on at the Nance lab. With the support of my mentor Hawley, I decided to pursue a project involving algorithms and data analysis. In this project, I will compare animal models’ microglia morphology to determine their specific characteristics. I will use python, Fiji, and Otsu – a thresholding algorithm.

This project has been funded by Mary Gates Research Scholarship through Mary Gates Endowment for Students. My application, presentation, and description of the project are linked below. I presented my project both at the Undergraduate Research Symposium at University of Washington and Gulf Undergraduate Research Symposium at Rice University!
