I have been a part of the Nance Lab from 2020 to 2023, spanning from my senior year of high school to my junior year of undergrad. During this time, I worked on three main projects under the mentorship of Hawley Helmbrecht and Nels Schmick. Through their guidance, I developed a strong interest in computational technologies and machine learning.
The lab, led by Dr. Nance, has not only been a place of learning but also an empowering environment, especially as a woman in STEM. Dr. Nance has been an inspiring role model, and her support has been a significant reason I am even considering pursuing a PhD.
I am deeply grateful to the lab for giving me this opportunity and for fostering my growth. As the first in my family to pursue higher education, this mentorship has been especially meaningful.
